What is The Genius Lab?
The Genius Lab, operated by STEM Xposure Inc. in partnership with the City of St. Petersburg, is a revolutionary after-school program designed specifically for our local youth. Located at the heart of our community in the Enoch Davis Center (1111 18th Ave S.), we provide a safe, high-energy environment where students can discover their passions and turn them into careers.
Our mission is simple: Expose, Equip, and Empower.
We know that our students in South St. Pete have incredible talent. Sometimes, all they need is the right tools and the right environment to let that talent shine. Whether you want to be an architect, a software engineer, a master carpenter, or an entrepreneur, The Genius Lab gives you the head start you need.

100% FREE: No Excuses, Just Opportunity
We believe that a student's zip code or bank account should never determine their future. That is why The Genius Lab is 100% FREE for all participants.
We’ve removed every possible barrier to make sure you can show up and succeed:
Free Tuition: No enrollment fees, no supply costs.
Free Transportation: We provide pickups from local schools and even your home to get you to the Enoch Davis Center and back safely.

If you attend any of the following schools, we are looking for YOU:
John Hopkins Middle School

This program was built for our community. We want to see the halls of the Enoch Davis Center filled with students from our local neighborhoods, ready to take over the workforce of tomorrow.

What Will You Actually Do? (The Fun Stuff)
Forget boring lectures. At The Genius Lab, we believe in Project-Based Learning (PBL). This means you learn by doing.
One of our most popular tracks is the Digital Carpentry & Laser Fabrication Academy. In this 9-week program, you’ll go from a safety badge to a full-scale capstone project.
A Sneak Peek at the Curriculum:
Week 1-2: Master the shop! Learn safety, tool identification, and the math behind the build. You'll even engrave your own personalized wooden ruler.
Week 3-4: Dive into the digital world. You’ll use CAD software and LightBurn to design projects, then watch them come to life on our OMTech 80W CO₂ Lasers.
Week 5-7: This is where it gets real. You’ll build functional woodworking projects like tool caddies, desk organizers, and even mini furniture models.
Week 8-9: Entrepreneurship 101. You’ll learn how to brand, price, and market the products you created. The program culminates in a Community Makers Showcase where you present your portfolio to the public!
Beyond carpentry, we dive deep into:
Artificial Intelligence (AI): Understand how the world is changing and how to use AI to your advantage.
Robotics: Build and program machines to solve complex problems.
Cybersecurity: Learn how to protect data and navigate the digital landscape safely.
Architecture & Engineering: Design the buildings and systems of the future.

Why It Matters: Industry Micro-Credentials
We aren't just giving you a fun place to hang out after school. We are giving you a resume.
As you progress through The Genius Lab, you have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized micro-credentials. These certifications prove to future employers and colleges that you have the technical skills to do the job.
When you graduate from our program, you leave with:
Digital Design Files: A portfolio of your CAD and laser work.
Physical Products: Items you designed and built yourself.
A Career Plan: A roadmap for your next steps into college or the workforce.
A Presentation Deck: The confidence and skill to pitch your ideas to anyone.
