What is The Genius Lab?

Funded by the City of St. Petersburg and fueled by the powerhouse workforce innovators at STEM Xposure Inc., The Genius Lab is designed to change the trajectory of young lives in South St. Pete.

This is not your average after-school tutoring club. The Genius Lab is a rigorous, high-energy, hands-on workforce development and STEM immersion program built specifically for students in grades 6 through 12. We bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application, equipping students with the technical skills, confidence, and mentorship they need to dominate in tomorrow’s economy.

Why You Must Apply Before August 13

Time is running out, and the stakes have never been higher. Here is why parents and guardians across St. Petersburg are scrambling to submit their applications before the August 13 cutoff:

  • 100% Free Program: Thanks to our partnership with the City of St. Petersburg and STEM Xposure Inc., tuition is completely free.

  • Zero Barriers to Access: We provide free transportation, nutritious meals, and daily snacks so every student can focus entirely on learning and building.

  • Exclusive Inaugural Cohort Size: To ensure personalized mentorship and hands-on access to cutting-edge equipment, we are capping the cohort at just 50 students.

  • Real Industry Mentorship: Students work side-by-side with experienced professionals in engineering, robotics, coding, architecture, and construction trades.

Program Details at a Glance

  • Location: Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL

  • Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 2 hours per day, perfectly aligned with the academic calendar.

  • Target Audience: Students in grades 6–12, with priority given to students residing in zip codes 33705, 33711, and 33712.

  • Priority Schools: Special outreach and priority placement are designated for students attending John Hopkins Middle, Thurgood Marshall Fundamental, Bay Point Middle, and Gibbs High School.

What’s Waiting for Students in Quarter 1?

We are hitting the ground running right at the start of the academic year. Quarter 1 is packed with explosive, hands-on learning experiences designed to immediately hook students' curiosity:

  1. Artificial Intelligence & Coding: Demystifying machine learning and learning how to build smart applications.

  2. The Science of Music: Exploring the acoustic physics, digital audio engineering, and technology behind modern sound production.

  3. Robotics & Engineering: Collaborating with industry partners like Project Game Time and Ark Education to design, program, and test autonomous robots.

As students progress through the year, they will also dive deep into architectural design, sustainable building practices, and heavy construction trades: gaining tangible certifications and creating digital portfolios via advanced learning platforms like Scoutlier.

Who is Eligible?

While any middle or high school student in St. Petersburg is welcome to apply, enrollment preference is given to families within our priority zip codes and school zones. We are particularly committed to reaching underprivileged students who show a spark of curiosity for building, coding, creating, and leading.
